Our nurse practitioners work in collaboration with our physicians in the evaluation and management of cancer and hematologic problems to ensure optimal symptom management and treatment outcomes. SAVANNAH OFFICE Myra Buskirk, MSN, APRN-BC, OCN Buskirk came to Summit Cancer Care in 2001 from Response Oncology in Savannah, Georgia, where she has over 10 years of stem cell transplant experience in the treatment of high-risk oncology patients in the outpatient and inpatient setting. Prior to that she was the assistant nurse manager of the oncology unit at St Joseph's/Candler Health Systems. She received an Associate Degree in Nursing, a Bachelor of Science in Nursing, and a Master of Science in Nursing from Armstrong Atlantic State University. She is board certified as an Adult Nurse Practitioner by the American Nurses Credentialing Center. She is an active member of the Oncology Nursing Society. The Oncology Nursing Certification Corporation certifies her as an Oncology Certified Nurse. Diane Smoak, MSN, APRN-BC, OCN, CCRP Smoak came to Summit Cancer Care in 2003 from Memorial Health University Medical Center in Savannah, Georgia, where she had over twenty years of oncology nursing experience in the inpatient and outpatient settings. She has first-hand knowledge of oncology research through participation in and data coordination of NCI-sponsored clinical trials. She received an Associate Degree in Nursing, a Bachelor of Science in Nursing, and a Master of Science in Nursing from Armstrong Atlantic State University. She is board verified as an Adult Nurse Practitioner by the American Nurses Credentialing Center. The Oncology Nursing Certification Corporation certifies her as an Oncology Certified Nurse. She is a member of the Oncology Nursing Society (Southeast Georgia Chapter), Society of Clinical Research Associates, and Nurse Practitioner Council of Coastal Georgia.
